Welcome To My Aaliyah page
Aaliyah Dana Haughton, was born January 16, 1979 in New York. She was raised by her loving parents Diane and Michael Haughton in Detroit. Aaliyah was destined to be a star ever since the age of eleven, when she was performing back-up for Gladys Knight in Las Vegas.
Aaliyah was presented to the world by R.Kelly in 1994, at the tender age of 15. She released her debut album "Age Ain't Nothing But a Number" and she went platinum. The public automatically fell in love with this beautiful and talented young lady.
The follow up of her first album was her sophmore release in 1996 "One in a Million." This album was a colaboration with the beatmakers of Timberland and Missy. They added a new bounce and flow to her music and the prety little girl that wore dark shades started to come to life.
After the release of her sophmore album we started to miss Aaliyah and wanted to hear more from her. Aaliyah went on sort of a hiatus and made us want her more. In later years she performed for different soundtracks and did guest appearences on MTV and other places. In 2000 Aaliyah came back to us with her additions to the "Romeo Must Die" soundtrack, and made her big screen debut in the film.
This year Aaliyah released her self-titled album "Aaliyah". This album is the most mature project she has given us. She came back to us a woman. She had emerged from her teenage years of where she dared not to wear a dress or take off the shades and baggy pants into a beautiful and proud lady. Aaliyah was sighted in different places with beautiful dreses and beautiful make-up without hiding her beautiful brown eyes.
Aaliyah was a beautiful young lady that kept her personal life just that, her personal life. There was a certain mystery about Aaliyah that left her fans to wonder. Aaliyah was envolved in a relationship with Damon Dash, CEO of Roca Fella Records and they were to get married as soon as she had time.
Aaliyah died on August 25,2001 in a plane crash after filming her "Rock the Boat" video in the Bahamas. Aaliyah will be missed by all that have ever glanced into her beautiful eyes or have ever seen her warm smile. She was truely our angel and shall forever be missed!!!
